Pray for me and all the other commissioners and delegates attending the 219th General Assembly in Minneapolis July 2 through 11. There are a great number of overtures coming to this Assembly. Many of them have real ramifications on our polity and reformed policy understandings.
Knowing that you will be praying for God’s guidance to be known by all 900 Commissioners will be such a support for us.
You can pray for all of us or if you like, you can be partnered with a specific individual to become a Prayer Partner. To volunteer as a Prayer Partner, please call Lois Potter at 763-497-1601 or you may email her at potter6102@charter.net.
Thank you for your prayers!

Sonora Dodd first had the idea of a “father’s day” while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909. She wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart, a Civil War veteran, who was widowed when his wife died giving birth to their sixth child. Mr. Smart raised the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington State. Her father’s birthday was in June, so she chose to hold the first Father’s Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June, 1910.
In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of a national Father’s Day. Then in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father’s Day. President Richard Nixon signed the law which made it permanent in 1972.
